The digital fingerprint today is a biological signature. A signature that becomes a representation of the singularity of an individual. In bureaucracy the fingerprint represents not only the identity of a subject, but is also an instrument used to systematically categorize the subject in a system compiled of codes and numbers. The stamp on the other hand holds an official power of approval of a political nature. The two fulfill the same action which consists of imprinting a mark, with the only difference being in the fact that the stamp has an “active” role but the fingerprint has a “passive” one. In this work the roles are inverted and the instruments exchange places, thus transforming the fingerprint in a symbolic monument with the power rooted not only in its dimensions but also in its function.

L’impronta digitale è firma biologica, e la firma veste della singolarità di un individuo.
Il timbro è impressione immutata, approvazione, sentenza e chiusura.
Nell’ambito di procedure burocratiche, attraverso l’impronta siamo sia identificati
che catalogati, diveniamo un ‘‘codice’’ all’interno di uno schedario più gande
di noi. Col timbro invece otteniamo quasi un riconosciemnto, una validazione.
Entrambe ad una prima analisi imprimono: inchiostrano il loro segno, con la
differenza che il Timbro ‘‘ha una voce’’, l’impronta no.
In questo lavoro i ruoli si invertono e lo strumento passivo diventa attivo,
finalmente ‘‘parla’’: l’impronta diviene vero e proprio monumento simbolico di
potere non più meramente astratto, ma funzionale.
